WAELE/ARCELFA was founded on 8th May 2004 and registered with Nigeria Corporate Affairs Commission on 7th September 2004. The organization is structured to meet the yearnings of African women across the continent who beliefs women should participate more fully in the economic decision making, peace & conflict resolution and governance of our great continent. WAELE/ARCELFA is currently in 42 African Countries.
OUR MISSION is to strive to unify various groups and provide a stronger voice towards meeting African Women’s aspirations. Our long term objective is to have a strong, virile and committed organization that will continue to champion the sustainable emancipation of African Women.
As an organization WAELE/ARCELFA has conducted a number of sensitization conferences and seminars to enhance the gender sensitivity of various governments in Africa and to empower women to assert their God given rights to aspire to positions of leadership in government, private sector and civil society.
Among such conferences and seminars are:- WAELE/ARCELFA 1st Continental Conference was held earlier, in Bamako, Mali, in March 2004, 14 African countries participated.
WAELE/ARCELFA 2nd Continental Conference with the theme “ AFRICAN WOMEN IN A CONTEMPORARY WORLD:- ISSUES ON POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT” held at the ECOWAS Secretariat, Abuja from 11th- 13th of July 2005 with representatives from 18 African countries including Hon. Mrs. Gertrude Mongella, President of Pan African Parliament led the Tanzanian delegation and delivered the keynote address.
“POLITICS AND NATION BUILDING:- THE ROLE OF NIGERIAN WOMEN” which took place at the International Conference Centre on 26th of October 2006 in Abuja. Senator .Dr. Joy Emodi gave the keynote address.
WAELE/ARCELFA 3rd Continental Conference took place on the 1st – 2ndof July 2010 in Abuja, Nigeria with the themes:- AFRICAN WOMEN EMANCIPATION:- KEY TO THE FUTURE

WAELE/ARCELFA 4th Continental Conference took place on the 27th – 28th of September 2011 at Merit House, Abuja, Nigeria with the themes:- :- “THE PLIGHT OF SAHARAWI WOMEN’’ 45 Countries participated. H.E. AMB Frank Ruddy of United State delivered the Keynote address
WAELE/ARCELFA ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENTS WAELE/ARCELFA has been able to empower more than 10,000 women in Akwa Ibom, Borno, Ondo & Abia States of Nigeria with economic empowerment equipment to boost their productions. Indeed, those that are into Cassava processing could only produce two bags of Cassava manually with hard labour in a week, but after giving them the equipment, they can now produce twenty (20) bags daily. Similarly, the women that are into Palm oil processing could only produce 20 liters in a week. It is my pleasure to bring to your knowledge, that with the assistance of WAELE/ARCELFA, they can now produce 400 liters in a day.
OUR HUMANITARIAN SERVICES WAELE/ARCELFA presented to the women of Plateau State of Nigeria during the Ethnic religious crises between the Christians and Muslims of the State with the under listed items on the 9th of July 2004:- 200 Blankets , 200 Mats , 200 Buckets, 200 Bowls, 200 Bags of salt,100 Bags of Rice and 10 Cartons of Canoe Soap.
WAELE/ARCELFA presented the under listed items on the 13th of February 2008, to the Chadian refugees during the recent rebel disturbances:- 200 Bags of rice, 200 Bags of maize, 200 Bags of millet, 500 Cartons of Spaghetti, 200 Bags of salt, 200 Bags of detergent, 5000 Plastic cups, 5000 Slippers, 5000 Buckets, 2000 Mats, 2000 Blankets & 200 Bags of milk.
WAELE/ARCELFA presented relief materials (600 bags of wheat’s & 100 cartoons of milk) to the (IDP) in Juba, South Sudan on the 5th of Feb 2014.
OUR PEACE MISSION WAELE/ARCELFA visited His Excellency Mr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania in Dar-Es-Salaam on the 11th September 2006 to commend him on the appointment of 16 female Ministers and other women in top decision making positions and also discussed the problems affecting African women and the way forward. The meeting was successful.
WAELE/ARCELFA in collaboration with the Sudanese General WomenUnion (SGWU) held a peace meeting in Khartoum on Darfur issues from the 20th – 21st of October 2008. WAELE/ARCELFA visited President Omer Al-Basher to discuss the Darfur issue as well as issues concerning Sudan and the Republic of Chad. President Omer Al-Basher promised to continue working towards peace between Sudan and Chad as well as in Darfur Region, as a result of WAELE/ARCELFA meeting with President Omer Al-Basher, Sudanese border with Chad and Sudanese Embassy in Ndjamena was re-opened. Credit was given to WAELE/ARCELFA peace missionto Khartoum when the border was re – opened by the Sudanese Government.
WAELE/ARCELFA visited the IDP camp in Al – Fashir, Northern Darfur in May 2009 and organized Peace Meeting with the Dafurian women in collaboration with Sudanese General Women Union (SGWU). More than 3000 women participated in the peace meeting.
WAELE/ARCELFA visited South Sudan in October 2010; we meet with the First Lady H.E. Mrs Kiir we discussed the need for peace in both North & South Sudan after the referendum.
WAELE/ARCELFA visited South Sudan in Feb 2014 on a peace mission and delivered relief materials to the (IDP)
WAELE/ARCELFA visited the women of Tindouf, Algeria in Dec 2010. The meeting with the women was very rewarding to both WAELE/ARCELFA and the women.
WAELE/ARCELFA visited Saharawi refugee camp from 4th– 8th Dec 2010. During our visit it was agreed that
WAELE/ARCELFA participated in South Sudan Referendum of 9th January 2011.
WAELE/ARCELFA was in Juba, South Sudan from 3rd – 6th of Feb 2014 on a PEACE mission

WAELE/ARCELFA Participated in June 2009 in DIAGNOSTIC TO ACTION:– Micro finance in Africa multi stake holder conference at the United Nations office Nairobi Kenya. The conference was organized by Women’s World Banking and Africa Micro Finance Action Forum
WAELE/ARCELFA Participated in International council of women in South Africa in October 2009, WAELE/ARCELFA also Participated in the United Nations ECA Eight African Regional Conference on Women (Beijing +15) 16th – 20th November 2009, in Banjul the Gambia
WAELE/ARCELFA was part of Launching of African Union, African Women’s Decade in Nairobi, Kenya in October 2010.

ELECTION MONITORING WAELE/ARCELFA was part of election monitoring in 2010, Sudan, Burundi, Ivory Coast, Guinea Conakry. WAELE/ARCELFA was part of election monitoring Niger & Benin Republic in 2011. Also in 2015 WAELE/ARCELFA also participated in Sudan & Benin Republic election monitoring
WOMEN REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH & RIGHTS WAELE/ARCELFA In 2009, 2010 & 2011 collaborated with IPAS Nigeria to organize capacity building and advocacy training of women in all the 6 regions of Nigeria. We have also organized grassroots sensitization rally in Offa in Kwara State, Irele in Ondo State and Bida in Niger State. More than 4000 women participated.
